A DanK World
Background
Name: Daniel Kern
Current Home: Las Vegas, Nevada
Current Ivory Tower Job: Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematical Sciences,
UNLV
I was born in Daegu (or Taegu), the fourth largest city in Korea,
but my hometown (more or less) is Fairfax, Virginia, a suburb of
Washington, D.C.
Tennis
I love tennis, both as a player and a fan. Outdoor play is somewhat risky in
the Las Vegas during the summer (In Dallas a tournament in July was
called the Inferno Open. Las Vegas is hotter.) I still play in the
summer. See the first link below for info on tennis in Nevada.
Music
Dave Matthews Band
Audioslave
Regina Carter (jazz violin) Another site
Las Vegas Philhormonic
Chicago Chamber Choir
Places I've been
- Daegu, Korea My birthplace; sometimes written as Taegu.
- Seoul, Korea
For news, weather, etc., try here.
- Tokyo
- Kansai Region, Japan
Everyone should have the chance to live in the Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto
region. I used to be a fan of the Hankyu Braves baseball team, which played in the
town that I lived in,
Nishinomiya. (for those who want to know more
precisely, it was near the Shukugawa train station)
- Guam
The ideal vacation spot.
- Mexico City Its
dirty, grossly polluted, crime is high, the poverty on the streets is awful -
and it may have been the best place I ever lived.
Education
Canadian Academy, Japan
