Brief History of Program:
Through Space Grant programs the NSHE system promotes public outreach and K-12 education activities through coordinated activities at local schools, museums and planetariums.
The Nevada Space Grant Consortium (NvSGC) works to expand opportunities for Americans to understand and participate in NASA's aeronautics and space programs by supporting and enhancing science and engineering education, research and outreach programs. Since the inception of the program, NASA has provided the NvSGC with $3,446,188 in funding which was matched with $1,470,513 by the State. On average, 35% of the annual funds go toward scholarships and fellowships; 42% is allocated to support faculty research, student projects and outreach programs, and the remaining 23% goes to consortium management. All Nevada Space Grant funds are awarded through a statewide competitive process.
