My name is Amber Beard and I am student at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Perhaps you have seen me on campus? I look like this:

Don't believe me, huh? Okay, seriously I look like this: | ![]() |
You're not buying this are you? Ok, I admit. I ripped these pictures off from a Victoria's Secret catalog. To rectify this attrocious theft, I will give them a plug. Go toVictoria's Secret now and buy yourself some undies!
OK-seriously now. I am dual major in Art and Theatre at UNLV. With art, I specialize in (or enjoy doing) just about everything: drawing, sculpting, painting, graphic design, ceramics... except photography. I HATE photography. As for theatre, I am a technical emphasis, specializing in costume and scenic design. In addition to the two majors I already have, I am considering adding film as a third major. I am particularly interested in both production and screenwriting. I also have a special fascination with animation, and hope that a major in film could somehow help contribute to a career in that field.
As you can tell, I plan to have absolutely NO future after I graduate. Ten years from now when you see me on some street corner, living in a cardboard box, and drawing pictures for food, please think of me. :) Anyway, if you are interested in UNLV, check out their homepage.
Besides putzing around the Fine Arts College, I am also a dedicated student in the Honors College at UNLV. (Didn't think I was smart, did ya?) Instead of taking "normal" core classes, I take Honors courses which substitute for them. If any of you are interested in checking out the Honors College, here is a link to their department:UNLV Honors College.
In addition to my studies, I am also a member of several clubs on campus. Some of these clubs I am still active in, some of them I am not, and some of them, like the Art Club, have totally disappeared off the face of the planet.
| Club | Years Active | Offices Held | Club Webpage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Art Club | 1997 | ------ | -------- |
| Japanese Speaking Club | 1998,1999,2000 | Secretary | Japanese Speaking Club |
| Neon Stoa Philosophy Club | 1998,1999,2000 | Secretary | Philosophy Club |
| Collegiate Honors Council | 1997,1998 | O-board Representative | --------- |
| Phi Kappa Phi | 1999,2000 | ------- | The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi |

Now, you see, this was the section where I was going to show you some examples of my art work. I had several pictures that I had done from my computer graphics class, as well as a sampling of some of my costume plates from my costume design class. I spent hours scanning, converting, and plotting these little pictures into tables and converting them to thumbnails. Unfortunately, I never bothered to ask myself whether or not the Pioneer server would be able to support such graphically intense HTML. Of course, Pioneer couldn't. This is because How they expect you to make a really creative and spiffy looking webpage with only 2mb of server space is beyond me.....
Anyway, I wasn't about to let all this work go to waste, so my good friend Pawel loaned me some free space on his server. If you would like to check out my pictures, go here: BAD ART
WARNING- It may suck, but ALL of my work is COPYRIGHTED! If you steal, rip-off or alter any of my ideas or works without consulting me first, or giving me credit, I will hunt you down and sue you, and then kill you. I warn you, I have copies of all my work in a sealed, dated envelope! So don't think you can get away with it.

In my spare time I like to piddle around with astrology. I'm not talking about the stupid, assinine "Cosmo" version of astrology. I'm talking about the real thing. It's actually more complicated than it looks, with many mathematical calculations involved. Once you get into it, it's actually quite fascinating, and at times, astonishingly accurate. Of course, one must always take these things with a grain of salt. :)
With the help of my mom, I can cast people's natal charts and examine their aspects. If you would like your horoscope done, e-mail me and I will see what I can do for you. If you are interested in astrology, I have included some links and a list of reference books for you below.
Oh yeah, by the way, if you are interested...I am a Gemini with a Sagitarrius ascendant and an Aries moon. ^_^

When I have the time, one of my favorite things to do, other than paint, draw, or write, is curl up with a nice good book. My preferences lean towards science fiction and fantasy, but in truth it really doesn't matter so long as there is an interesting story to keep me entertained. Here are some books that I recommend you check out!
SOME FAVORITE BOOKS
As I mentioned previously, I love animation. I hope to someday work in the field, either writing, producing, or drawing. While I humbly nod my head to the animation God, Walt Disney, and the demi-Gods like Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, WilliaM Hanna, and Joseph Barbera, I must admit that I am partial to the Japanese school of animation and its genre: "Anime". The Japanese took animation out of the realm of "children's entertainment" and made it what it should be: a serious art form, with serious stories and messages. Anyway, here are some general animation links, as well as some links to two of my favorite anime series.
