course is to explore the differential and integral calculus together with
applications. By completing the course, one will know how to differentiate
and integrate algebraic and transcendental functions, apply these techniques
to various physical and geometrical problems, and demonstrate a knowledge of the underlying mathematical theory. Homework, Quiz: The problems that you should work after each
lecture are (at least) every other odd number of problems (#1,5,9,…) in the Exercises. Some of the homework will be
collected for credit and quizzes will also be given. No late homework will be
accepted unless arranged with the instructor in advance. Exams: There will be two midterm tests and a comprehensive

IV. Tips for Doing Well in
the Class |
|
|
·
Due to the pace of this course in the summer session, you cannot miss
class and expect to keep up. Be in class and on time Attendance is
critical. ·
Keep solving problems! Do lots
of problems - not just the assigned homework. Learning to differentiate and integrate is a
skill, and like playing the piano or shooting hoops, practice makes perfect. ·
Form a study group with your classmates. Discuss questions and answers with them.
One of the best ways to thoroughly master material is to explain it to
someone else. ·
If you need
tutoring, visit MATH Clinic in the CDC 701 (Building #7, Room 701). |
