SyllabusMAT 708, Section 1
PrerequisitesTo enrol in this course you should be a graduate student and have taken MAT 707 or equivalent. Course ObjectivesThis course is an develops to graduate-level analysis further. The primary objective will be to explore introductory functional analysis and operator theory, using examples from previous Real Analysis courses. TextThe principal source for lecture notes will be Pedersen's Analysis Now. AssessmentAssessment consist of two parts: occasional problems given out over the semester (worth 40%); and a take-home final (worth 60%). The problems will be graded either correct or incorrect, but may be submitted multiple times - the objective is to get all the problems completely correct before the end of semester. To simplify my life, I will collect problems for grading every Friday. The final will be avilable during finals week - more details will be provided towards the end of the semester.
