MAKEUPS - NOV 3-6 FINALS: SUN - MON NOV 8-9TH. ASSIGNMENTS: Reading assignments should be completed before class on the date assigned. Written assignments (The extra credit Bill Maher paper) must be typed double-spaced, and turned in by the beginning of class. They can also be turned in by internet dropbox. Late papers and make-ups will not be permitted except under extreme circumstances. Students will also be asked to fill out the discussion questions from the workbook weekly. These will be collected at the end of the semester. PARTICIPATION: This class is heavily oriented towards participation. Participation scores will be graded based on the discussion forum on the class website. You should be posting at least THREE times per week to pass - more if you want a better grade, CRITICAL THINKING: This is a critical thinking course. The discussion postings should be a single paragraph answering one or more of the following questions about the topic: [1] causes and consequences, [2] similar and/or dissimilar situations, and [3] who benefits from the situation. GRADING: Grades will assigned according to standard criteria from A to D- and F. Students who drop are responsible to officially withdraw, otherwise they risk getting an F instead of W. TESTING: All tests will be done on-line. They may be done in the lab or at home. All tests and quizzes will be open book and open note, BUT don't be fooled - that doesn't mean they will be easy. The first quiz may be taken 2 times. All other tests will be taken ONCE. Each weeks quizzes are available from Sun 9am - Sat 11pm. FINAL: The Final is comprehensive and will cover lectures, videos and readings in HN MN, and BL.
